The word “cocktail” was first defined in 1806 by ‘The Balance and Columbian Repository of Hudson, New York’: - 'cock tail', then, is a stimulating liquor composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water, and bitters. "Marx Mixer Old Fashioned, inspired by the first cocktail ever made, is an Old-Fashioned flavour enhanced Spirit Aperitif made exclusively from natural ingredients including, herbs, spices, fruits, and botanicals blended with triple distilled white spirit and possessing an alcohol content by volume of 30% (60 proof). The Marx Mixer brand is owned by Bright House Brands Company, who calls it a “spirit aperitif”.
